Shotley Bridge Village Trust

The Consett and District Heritage Initiative held an open day at the Heritage Centre in Blackhill Park last Saturday. Over 300 persons attended the event to look at displays and meet local history societies.

The Initiative committee are raising funds to be able to set up a research room at the Heritage Centre and permanent displays about the history of the area. They have obtained the artifacts from the ‘Consett Steelworks Exhibition’ some of which used to be in the Shotley Bridge  Heritage and Tourist Information Centre, many years ago.

The Village Trust has joined the committee to promote the history of Shotley Bridge. Please let me know if you have any artifacts, records or photographs of the area that you are willing to donate or loan to the Initiative.
