Four churches in the Blackhill and Shotley Bridge area are planning to come together as a single church (Trinity Community Church, Blackhill) with the intention of refurbishing the existing building or rebuilding the current St. Andrew’s Church on Durham Road. The North West Durham Circuit of the Methodist Church has agreed to allow the proceeds from that sale to be used as part of the cost of the new church.

The property is already in the hands of an agent who has valued it and there has been some expression of interest. Have a look at the Shotley Bridge Methodist Church Sale Particulars.

There have been services held there for almost 120 years. If you are interested, here is a brief history of the Methodist Church and Methodism in Shotley Bridge, which was written by a member of the Village Trust in 2004.
