S/Bridge Hospital Support Group

February 3, 2010

The next meeting of the Group is being held on Wednesday 10th February in the Shotley Bridge Hospital restaurant at 6pm.

Guest speakers will be Gail Patterson [Site Manager Shotley Bridge] and Debbie Edwards [Community Hospitals Assistant Director of Projects].

There will also be updates on the Garden Project and Urgent Care. Car parking and bus services are also on the agenda.

The Group aims to raise the profile of services at Shotley Bridge and promote the message that people need to use their local hospital whenever that is practical for their health care.

Horse and carriage rides

December 7, 2009

The horse and carriage rides during the Victorian Christmas Weekend proved to be very popular

A big thank you to the North East Carriage Company for providing the service at their own cost. Over the two days the rides raised over £400 for the North of England Children’s Cancer Research Fund.

It is suggested that the rides should be a permanent feature, as it proved to be very effective in slowing the traffic down through the village centre!

Music by the Christmas tree

December 5, 2009

This evening, a small ensemble from Consett Brass played under the white lights of the Christmas tree, which Father Christmas had successfully lit with his ‘magic dust’ at 4pm.

Earlier, the Victorian Costume Competition had been judged by the ‘three wise men’ of Shotley Bridge, representing all the churches in the village.

Hopefully, tomorrow, when the decision on the ‘best dressed’ Victorians will be taken by three local councillors, more children will enter the competition.
