Litter on the B6278

April 17, 2010

A dozen volunteers turned up this morning to collect litter and rubbish from the country lanes in Northumberland. During the 2 hour operation a van and trailer load of litter, tyres, car crash parts, building materials, a dvd player, radio, computer disk drive and two plastic doll arms were collected.

Between Shotley Bridge and The Snods on the B6278, known locally as Burnmill Bank, we filled 12 bags with litter. Most of this being food and drink containers that had been discarded from vehicles over the last 12 months. That’s a bag of litter per month, on average, thrown away by people who just want to keep their vehicles clean but have no respect for the countryside.

One thousand hits

February 14, 2010

It has taken 3 months, since this website was launched, to reach the milestone of one thousand hits.  This does not include any of my own visits to update and check the blog.

Please let me know if you would like me to post any text or photographs documenting the Trust’s activities.

Five hundred hits

December 17, 2009

Since this blogsite was launched on November 15th, a month ago, the first milestone of 500 hits has been recorded [which don’t include any of my own visits to update and check the blog]. The busiest day was Tuesday 15th December, when 154 hits were recorded. On that day 65 hits were made on the Photo Galleries/Victorian Christmas Weekend page.

There is plenty of room for the site to expand and eventually, when I get time, I hope to include everything the Trust has been involved with, since its inception. This will include an archive of all the Trust’s publications. Please let me know if you would like me to add anything in particular or have old photographs documenting the Trust’s activities.

For now, though, I intend to post as much information as I can about the Trust’s activities since I was elected secretary at the May 2009 AGM.
