Snow and more snow

January 1, 2010

New Year’s Day dawns with a 6″ cover of snow.

There are more images in the ‘snowy scenes’ photo gallery.

The long term forecast for January is for even more snow and freezing temperatures!

A Happy New Year to all our readers.

Carol singing in the square

December 21, 2009

[Click on the photos to enlarge]

Tonight about 40 people turned out on a very cold but dry evening to sing carols next to the Christmas tree.

Everyone seemed to enjoy the singing, which was led by Martin Jackson, Vicar of St Cuthbert’s parish.

A white Christmas?

December 20, 2009

Following the heaviest snowfall of the winter – so far – I took my camera down to the village this morning.

I was too late to get a picture of Front street covered in 3″ of snow, as it had been at 7pm last night.

But the trees were still covered, including the village Christmas Tree.

There are more snowy scenes in the photo gallery.

Five hundred hits

December 17, 2009

Since this blogsite was launched on November 15th, a month ago, the first milestone of 500 hits has been recorded [which don’t include any of my own visits to update and check the blog]. The busiest day was Tuesday 15th December, when 154 hits were recorded. On that day 65 hits were made on the Photo Galleries/Victorian Christmas Weekend page.

There is plenty of room for the site to expand and eventually, when I get time, I hope to include everything the Trust has been involved with, since its inception. This will include an archive of all the Trust’s publications. Please let me know if you would like me to add anything in particular or have old photographs documenting the Trust’s activities.

For now, though, I intend to post as much information as I can about the Trust’s activities since I was elected secretary at the May 2009 AGM.
