I’ve posted a two and a half minute video of the event held in Shotley Bridge village centre on Saturday 27th November 2010 on the Facebook site – Shotley Bridge ‘The Village’

Charity fundraising

January 10, 2011

The final total for the charity collection at the Shotley Bridge Victorian Christmas Spectacular on 27 November 2010 has broken last year’s two day total of £1500.

£1840 was raised on the day, this year.  £1380 will be presented to Willow Burn and £460 to the Trust’s Britain in Bloom Initiative at the Open Meeting next month.

A big thank you to all the businesses, church and community groups that raised money as well as the Shotley Bridge Infant and Junior School Choirs, Consett Brass and the Sage Gateshead Chamber Choir who provided entertainment on the day.

Also, special thanks should be given to Mr & Mrs Santa, the North East Carriage Company and the Methodist Church, for making the day such a success.

Sorry for the delay in posting these on the site but I did not have time before going on holiday.

Thank you to all those who made the effort to dress in Victorian costume. Despite the snowy weather the event was a great success and visitors gave generously to charity. When all the collection tins are returned and counted I will post a report about the money raised for Willow Burn and the Village Trust ‘Britain in Bloom’.

Thank you also to the Methodist Church for hosting the entertainment and the Village Trust volunteer stewards who helped to ensure that the event ran smoothly.

Christmas Tree planted

November 24, 2010

This year’s Christmas tree has again been planted by Durham County Council with funding from Councillor Stephen Robinson’s local initiative fund.

It will be lit by Santa Claus at 4.30pm on Saturday 27th November.
