Willow Burn presentation

March 9, 2011

At the Village Trust’s Open Meeting last night, a cheque for £1380 was presented to a trustee of Willow Burn. The charity collection was held during the Victorian Christmas Spectacular last November.  Paul Jackson gave a talk about the hospice at the former Maiden Law Hospital site in Lanchester, stating that they had now raised £1.5 million towards the £5 million target for new buildings. Construction of phase one of the new facility would be starting in the near future.

Clare Singleton and Sue Shaw gave a presentation on the Trust’s Britain in Bloom entry in the Neighbourhood Awards Scheme and Garth Johnson gave details about a photographic competition.

Sorry for the delay in posting these on the site but I did not have time before going on holiday.

Thank you to all those who made the effort to dress in Victorian costume. Despite the snowy weather the event was a great success and visitors gave generously to charity. When all the collection tins are returned and counted I will post a report about the money raised for Willow Burn and the Village Trust ‘Britain in Bloom’.

Thank you also to the Methodist Church for hosting the entertainment and the Village Trust volunteer stewards who helped to ensure that the event ran smoothly.
