Men in Black

July 10, 2013

Two volunteers spent yesterday evening painting the heritage board and seats in the ‘Triangle’ in readiness for the Northumbria in Bloom judging next week.

The recent warm and sunny weather is helping the hanging baskets, tubs and barrier baskets to come into full bloom.

Open Meeting presentations

April 10, 2013

At the Trust’s Open Meeting last night a cheque for £1,030 was presented to Sue Fox, representing Willow Burn hospice, on behalf of the Shotley bridge Business & Community Partnership.  The money was 75% of the charity collection during the Dickensian Christmas Spectacular plus contributions from the Eve Fashion Show and Imago Raffle. £340 was raised for the Blooming Shotley Bridge fund.

Presentations were also given by Dawn Reed [Durham County Council] on options for  improving the village centre, and Sue Shaw [Blooming Shotley Bridge] about the Northumbria in Bloom entry.

Saturday Spectacular

December 15, 2012

The Saturday of the Dickensian Christmas Spectacular remained cold but dry and there was a reasonable turnout to the event organised by the Shotley Bridge Business & Community Partnership. More photos have been posted in the Pages section under Photo Galleries including more images from the previous Victorian Christmas events.

Thank you once again to all the contributors and entertainers who gave their time to help raise money for Willow Burn and Blooming Shotley Bridge. Particular thanks to SBVT volunteer stewards and the North East Carriage Company who provided rides through the village centre and helped slow the traffic down!

Christmas tree lit

December 7, 2012

Thank you to all those who turned out to see Santa light the village Christmas tree tonight, despite the cold and wet. Consett Brass played whilst carols were sung. Businesses had extended opening times. Santa was at Sarah Thew Photography and the art show and Dickens Trail were in Butler & Gee.

Also thanks to the Shotley Bridge Village Trust volunteers who helped to steward the evening and the local councillors for funding the tree and lights again. [Click on any image for a slide show.]
