BBB&SB Partnership Report

The Benfieldside, Blackhill, Bridgehill & Shotley Bridge Community Partnership has issued an Update Report of some of the actions from their last meeting. The report is a new idea and any views would be welcomed.

There is some useful information about speeding vehicles, dog fouling, cyclists & the Derwent Valley Big Tree plant.

25th Anniversary

June 22, 2013

The Trust celebrated its 25th anniversary at the AGM last Tuesday. Councillor Stephen Robinson cut the cake and everybody else ate it.

There was an exhibition of the work of the Trust over the last 25 years and a ‘Then & Now’ display of village photos.

The Open Meeting discussed  the County Council’s detailed proposals for  urban realm improvements in the village centre but more estimates are needed before a final list of schemes can be agreed.

The next open meeting of the Village Trust is to be held on Tuesday 18th June 2013 at 7.45pm. The venue will be Our Lady of the Rosary Roman Catholic Church Hall on Snows Green Road.  The Trust’s AGM will be held before the meeting at 7.00pm following which refreshments will be served. All welcome.

At the Trust’s Open Meeting last night a cheque for £1,030 was presented to Sue Fox, representing Willow Burn hospice, on behalf of the Shotley bridge Business & Community Partnership.  The money was 75% of the charity collection during the Dickensian Christmas Spectacular plus contributions from the Eve Fashion Show and Imago Raffle. £340 was raised for the Blooming Shotley Bridge fund.

Presentations were also given by Dawn Reed [Durham County Council] on options for  improving the village centre, and Sue Shaw [Blooming Shotley Bridge] about the Northumbria in Bloom entry.

Presentation to Willow Burn

The next Open Meeting of the Trust is being held at 7.30pm on Tuesday 9 April 2013 at Our Lady of the Rosary Roman Catholic Church Hall on Snows Green Road.  Refreshments will be served from 7.15pm.  All welcome

The Dickensian Christmas Spectacular event last December raised £300 for “Blooming” Shotley Bridge and £1000 for  Willow Burn.  A cheque presentation will be made at the meeting and there will also be updates on “Improving the Village Centre” and ” Northumbria in Bloom”.
