Durham County Council is promoting a FREE ‘physical activity roadshow’ in Blackhill and Consett Park this Friday (30th August) between 10am and 12 noon.
Physical Activity Roadshow
August 27, 2013Successful Fun Day
August 26, 2013The BBB&SB Partnership’s Fun day at the Spa today proved to be very popular and thoroughly enjoyed by all, in the glorious sunshine.
The Village Trust had various exhibitions within their gazebo and the tom-bola and treasure hunt raised £182 for the ‘Blooming’ Shotley Bridge fund. Thank you to the volunteers who helped and all who gave contributions and bought tickets.
The winning square of the Treasure Hunt was drawn by local councillors Stephen Robinson and Peter Oliver and the prize was awarded to Jade MacGregor.
‘The Cut’ is cleared
August 23, 2013A wall at the bottom of ‘The Cut’, between Churchill Close and The Terrace collapsed earlier this year but a dispute over ownership led to the rubble being left on the side of the path.

To resolve the situation, local County Councillors Stephen Robinson and Peter Oliver organised a skip and, with volunteers, helped to load it. Particular thanks also to Carl Robinson and John Shaw.
BBB&SB Partnership Report
August 20, 2013The Benfieldside, Blackhill, Bridgehill & Shotley Bridge Community Partnership has issued an Update Report of some of the actions from their last meeting. The report is a new idea and any views would be welcomed.
There is some useful information about speeding vehicles, dog fouling, cyclists & the Derwent Valley Big Tree plant.

Village centre consultation
August 18, 2013Following discussions at the last three Village Trust Open Meetings, Durham County Council are holding a wider Consultation Event on Tuesday 10th September 2013 at the King’s Head Social Club between 3 and 7pm.
This ‘Drop In’ event is in relation to the Section 106 funding which has been allocated for urban realm improvements in the village centre following the redevelopment of the former Shotley Bridge Hospital site.
Designs of 5 proposed environmental improvement schemes will be on display, chosen by the Council from a list of 17 identified by the Trust. Jackie Donnelly and Dawn Reed from the Economic Development Team will be in attendance at the event on behalf of Durham County Council.
Should you require any additional information, please contact Dawn on 03000 261 073 or e-mail dawn.reed@durham.gov.uk
The schemes will also be on display in the Village Trust gazebo at the Shotley Spa Fun Day on bank holiday Monday.
