Daffodils

March 1, 2013

Considering it was St David’s day today has anyone seen any daffodils blooming in Shotley bridge?

The only daffodils on show were these in a bucket, for sale in the village centre.

Hopefully the daffodils in the tubs will be in bloom when the judges visit for the Northumbria in Bloom Spring Judging on April 9th.

What a difference …

… a week makes.

Compare these photos taken today and just a week ago when the village was shrouded in 2-3 inches of snow.

Snow and more snow

January 19, 2013

3 to 4 inches of snow has fallen over the last 24 hours …

… and more is on the way, according to the BBC local weather forecast, for at least the next 48 hours.

2012 in review

December 31, 2012

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2012 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

4,329 films were submitted to the 2012 Cannes Film Festival. The SBVT blog had 24,000 views in 2012. If each view were a film, this blog would power 6 Film Festivals

Saturday Spectacular

December 15, 2012

The Saturday of the Dickensian Christmas Spectacular remained cold but dry and there was a reasonable turnout to the event organised by the Shotley Bridge Business & Community Partnership. More photos have been posted in the Pages section under Photo Galleries including more images from the previous Victorian Christmas events.

Thank you once again to all the contributors and entertainers who gave their time to help raise money for Willow Burn and Blooming Shotley Bridge. Particular thanks to SBVT volunteer stewards and the North East Carriage Company who provided rides through the village centre and helped slow the traffic down!
